Tree Removal for Urmston Gardens

Tree removal in Urmston is mostly about trees that have outgrown 1930s plots. The semis through Flixton, Davyhulme and Woodsend were built with decent gardens, and the trees planted alongside them have had the best part of a century to fill the space and then some. There is rarely room to fell a tree that size in one piece here, so most of our removals are sectional dismantles: climb it, rig it, and lower the wood down in pieces over sheds, greenhouses and next door’s fence. Jobs like that are won or lost in the planning, not the cutting.

We cover Urmston and the surrounding area: Urmston town centre, Flixton, Flixton village, Davyhulme, Woodsend and beyond (M41).

What’s Included

Permission comes before saws in this corner of Trafford. Trafford Council holds the Tree Preservation Order register for Urmston, and Flixton village sits in a conservation area, where any tree with a trunk wider than 75mm at 1.5m up needs six weeks’ written notice to the council before work starts. We run both checks as part of every removal quote and sort the paperwork with you, because felling a protected tree is an expensive mistake that lands on the owner, not the contractor.

  • Straight felling where there’s room to drop the tree whole
  • Sectional dismantling with ropes and rigging for tight gardens
  • Dead, dying, dangerous and storm damaged trees removed
  • TPO and conservation area checks, council paperwork handled
  • Logs cut to length and left, or everything chipped and taken away
  • Fully insured, with free written quotes on every job

"Tim and the lads were very professional, very fairly priced and did an excellent job at removing 6 old elm trees from my back garden. Highly recommended."

Tree Removal in Urmston, FAQs

Sometimes. A tree with a Preservation Order needs Trafford Council’s consent before any work, and inside the Flixton conservation area the council needs six weeks’ written notice for any tree with a trunk wider than 75mm at 1.5m up. We check the register before we quote and handle the application with you.

Yes, tight gardens are most of what we do around here. Where there is no room to fell, we take the tree apart in sections and lower everything down on ropes, so nothing lands on the shed, the greenhouse or the neighbour’s side of the fence.

It shouldn’t. We plan where everything lands, lower the heavy sections rather than dropping them, and carry the wood out instead of dragging it across soft ground. On a big removal you might get some flattened grass where we’ve been working, but that recovers in a few weeks. Ruts and gouges are the sign of a rushed job, and you won’t get them from us.

It depends on the tree and the access. A small tree with room to fell it whole can be down and cleared in a couple of hours. A large tree that has to come down in sections over a garden takes most of a day, sometimes two. We’ll give you a realistic timescale with the quote so you know what to expect.

Your choice. If you want firewood we’ll cut the trunk into logs and stack them wherever suits you. If not, the branches go through the chipper and the timber is loaded and taken away, so you’re not left with a pile to deal with. The stump stays in the ground unless you ask us to grind it out, which we can quote for at the same time.
