Tree Work in Sale
Sale sits about two miles from our Stretford base, straight down the A56 and over the river at Crossford Bridge. It is one of the first places our phone rings from, and it is easy to see why: this is one of the most heavily treed suburbs on our patch, with avenues off Washway Road and villa gardens near the Metrolink stops carrying big, mature trees that went in when the houses were built and have been growing ever since.
Housing age maps the tree stock here almost street by street. Brooklands and Sale Moor grew up around the old railway line, now the Metrolink, and the Victorian and Edwardian villas around Marsland Road, Northenden Road and Wardle Road come with limes, beeches and sycamores that are now far bigger than the plots they stand in. The 1930s semis that fill most of the rest of M33 keep a tree surgeon busy in a different way: overgrown flowering cherries out front, a conifer hedge gone wild at the back, and the odd self-seeded sycamore that nobody planted and everyone now has to deal with.
Trafford Council is the authority for tree work in Sale, and the leafier roads carry plenty of Tree Preservation Orders. There are two conservation areas in town, around Church Lane in Ashton upon Mersey and at Brogden Grove, where any tree with a trunk wider than 75mm at 1.5m up needs six weeks’ written notice before work starts. We check all of that before we quote and handle the paperwork with you. Down on the north side, the Mersey valley and Sale Water Park bring a different tree population altogether: fast-grown willows and poplars that shed limbs in a blow, and gardens backing onto the open valley that take the weather full on.
