Tree Surgeons in Irlam

Terraces off Liverpool Road, newer estates towards Cadishead and fast-growing willow and birch out on the moss: Irlam keeps a tree surgeon busy all year round.

Tree Work in Irlam

Irlam sits on the north bank of the Manchester Ship Canal, around seven miles from our Stretford base: over the M60, then straight out along the A57 through Peel Green. The canal is all that separates it from Flixton on the Trafford side, where we work every week, so Irlam and Cadishead have become a regular part of our round for tree felling, crown reduction, stump grinding and hedge cutting.

The housing runs in layers. The terraces off Liverpool Road went up for steelworks families, and their narrow back gardens with alley access are sectional dismantling territory: trees come down in pieces and the timber gets walked out, because nothing bigger fits through. Behind them sit generations of semis and the newer estates towards Cadishead, where garden trees planted decades ago now shade whole lawns, and Prince’s Park anchors the middle of town. Much of the work here is honest pruning, crown reductions and the odd removal where a tree has simply outgrown its plot.

Chat Moss starts where the streets stop. Peat holds water, so trees out that way grow fast and root shallow: willow and birch romp away, and a wet winter followed by a big blow can lift a whole root plate rather than snapping a stem. Not every leaning tree needs felling though. Taking weight out of the crown is often the better fix, and we will say so when it is. One thing worth knowing: Irlam comes under Salford City Council, not Trafford, so any Tree Preservation Order application goes to Salford, and we handle that paperwork with you. From February to August we check for nesting birds before cutting starts, because active nests are protected by law.

Around seven miles from our Stretford base, strongest across Higher Irlam, Lower Irlam, Irlam Moss, Cadishead, Peel Green, Hollins Green and the neighbouring towns.

Nothing at all. Tim comes out, looks at the tree, talks through the options honestly, including the times when less work or no work is the right answer, and you get a written quote within 48 hours. If a TPO might apply, we check with Salford City Council first.

Yes, all of it: Higher and Lower Irlam, the terraces off Liverpool Road, Cadishead down to the ship canal, and the farms out on Irlam Moss. Hollins Green and Peel Green sit on the same run, so they are covered too.
