Tree Removal in Didsbury

Safe, tidy tree felling and removal. Straight fells where there’s space, careful dismantling where there isn’t, and every scrap cleared before we leave. Around four miles from our Stretford base.

Tree Removal for Didsbury Gardens

Straight fells are the exception in Didsbury, not the rule. The villa gardens off Palatine Road and around Didsbury St James hold beech, lime and sycamore that have had a century or more to grow, standing over conservatories, garages and neighbouring plots. Nearly everything here comes down in sections, rigged and lowered on ropes, and a century-old villa tree standing over glass is exactly the kind of removal we plan for.

We cover Didsbury and the surrounding area: Didsbury Village, West Didsbury, East Didsbury, Withington, Burnage and beyond (M20).

What’s Included

Most of Didsbury sits under conservation area rules, Albert Park across West Didsbury and Didsbury St James around the old village, so a felling usually starts with the council rather than the chainsaw. We check the TPO register with Manchester City Council and prepare the application or the six weeks’ notice with you, and the job only gets booked once the paperwork is clear. A dead or dangerous tree can be exempt, but you need evidence, so we photograph and record the defect before anything is cut.

  • Straight felling where there’s room to drop the tree whole
  • Sectional dismantling with ropes and rigging for tight gardens
  • Dead, dying, dangerous and storm damaged trees removed
  • TPO and conservation area checks, council paperwork handled
  • Logs cut to length and left, or everything chipped and taken away
  • Fully insured, with free written quotes on every job

"Tim and the lads were very professional, very fairly priced and did an excellent job at removing 6 old elm trees from my back garden. Highly recommended."

Tree Removal in Didsbury, FAQs

Yes, once the notice is in. Inside Albert Park or Didsbury St James, Manchester City Council needs six weeks’ written notice before work on any tree with a trunk wider than 75mm at 1.5m up, and a TPO’d tree needs a full application instead. We prepare either with you as part of the free quote.

In sections. We climb it, lower the limbs and trunk on ropes into the garden, then cut everything into pieces that can be carried through the house or down the back entry. Floors and hallways get sheeted first, and we carry the lot out as we go.

Your choice. If you want firewood we’ll cut the trunk into logs and stack them wherever suits you. If not, the branches go through the chipper and the timber is loaded and taken away, so you’re not left with a pile to deal with. The stump stays in the ground unless you ask us to grind it out, which we can quote for at the same time.

Yes, that’s exactly what sectional dismantling is for. Rather than letting anything fall, we climb the tree, cut it into manageable pieces and lower each one on ropes, swinging them clear of the glass. It takes longer than a straight fell, but nothing comes down that isn’t under control.

It shouldn’t. We plan where everything lands, lower the heavy sections rather than dropping them, and carry the wood out instead of dragging it across soft ground. On a big removal you might get some flattened grass where we’ve been working, but that recovers in a few weeks. Ruts and gouges are the sign of a rushed job, and you won’t get them from us.
